We decided to purchase Shanghai after seeing several of his offspring and udders he has thrown. I really like this buck's uphill stance, dairy character, length and levelness or topline and the width between his hocks. I have loved all of the udders I have seen on his daughters. They have plumb teats with a good medial and very snug side and rear attachments. Each one seems to have the same socked on udder appearance. He is always complimented by the judges how well he has held up over time, his great front end assembly, hooves an legs, and dairy character. I'm interested to see the kid crop he gives us next year-

I liked the kids from this breeding so much, we decided to keep this buckling as a herd sire (we very rarely keep bucks intact). I really like his combination of dairy with some masculinity. Spender has a strong topline with flat bone and very nice rib spacing. He's also very wide between the hocks with a well rounded escutchen, and has tight hooves and straight legs. With his conformation and the udder genetics in his background, I couldn't ask for a better blend of characteristics. He's a mama's boy (even though he's quite pungent) and still follows me around the pasture asking for some lovins.

NO SHOW RECORD

Somehow along the line, we had ended up with only one of Dusty's doelings after selling him. We're grateful to have him back in the herd after seeing the improvements in his offspring.  All of his doelings have done well in the showring. He stands incredibly wide in the rear, with a high, open escutchen. He has strong, straight legs and hooves, incredibly flat bone, not to mention the great rib spacing and brisket extension. He has already proved himself as well in the mammary area of his doelings, improving udders well over their dam with attachments, medial, and teat size and placement. Two of his daughters have easily gotten their AR stars as first fresheners, so he's been a huge improvement in "milkyness" as well. Each freshened daughter I have seen milks down to absolutely nothing. Very soft, milkable udders that are full of milk, not meat. We have also been impressed with the front end assemblies and straightness of hooves and legs he has given to his offspring. He's not the friendliest of bucks so even though he's already gotten a good start to proving himself with his offspring, he's never made it into the show ring.
